Community Registered Design
An application for a Community registered design involves a similar application procedure to that followed for UK applications as noted above and there are similar multiple design provisions, and grace period provisions, for prior publications. However, in relation to the question of publication, if the applicant is keen to delay the publication of the design, but nevertheless proceed with the application, it is possible to delay publication for up to 30 months by including a request for deferred publication within the application. In order to place an application on file at the Community Design Office (OHIM) and establish a filing date we would look to receive the following:
- Full name and address of applicant(s)
- At least one representation of each design
- An indication of the products to which each design is intended to be applied
- Confirmation as to whether deferred publication is required
- Number, country and date of priority application (if applicable)
- Identification of the designer or team of designers
In due course, and to complete the formal requirements, we will need:
- copy of priority document including translation if required
However, the earlier this information is supplied the quicker the application can proceed.
