New official fees for patent applications at the UKIPO

New official fees for patent applications at the UKIPO

19/10/17

Subsequent to its recent consultation exercise, the UKIPO has decided to increase the official fees levied for the filing, search and examination, and to introduce new fees as of 6 April 2018

Also, in a departure from its established practice, and in a move aligning its official fee structure closer to that of the EPO, the UKIPO will also introduce an official fee for excess pages in relation to the length of the description; and an excess claims fee in relation to the number of claims in the application.

The excess claims fee will be set at a level of £20.00 for each claim over and above 25 and this fee will be payable as part of the search fee.

The excess page fee will be set at £10.00 for each page of the description over and above 35, and this fee will be payable as part of the examination fee.

Further details of this change in practice are available from the following document confirming the outcome of the recent consultation process
