Bruce is an experienced UK and European patent attorney with over 10 years post-qualification experience. Having worked as a senior attorney for boutique IP practices; large international law firms; and as in-house counsel for a leading global supplier of innovative battery technology, Bruce understands the pressures that clients face on a daily basis. He is committed to providing strategic and commercially intelligent advice to help clients leverage their IP to best achieve their commercial objectives.
As an attorney in private practice, Bruce has worked for organisations across a range of chemical and chemical engineering sectors, developing particular expertise in the fields of polymer chemistry, metal catalysis and electrochemistry. Other areas of practice include liquid crystal technologies, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, medical devices, dialysis equipment and nanotechnology. Bruce has a particular passion for battery technology, having worked in the industry for over a year.
Bruce has worked with a broad range of clients from multinational corporations to nascent SMEs across Europe. He has acted as an expert witness on patent matters before the Singapore High Court and frequently represents clients at opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office. Bruce has advised clients on matters of patent infringement before the UK courts; supported clients in major litigations with respect to anti-competitive practices; and has performed extensive freedom to operate exercises as part of multi-jurisdictional product programmes.
